BACoN555
Bottle of Argon Counting Neutrons (BACoN) is an experiment to measure the differential cross section for 40-Ar(n,p)40-Cl using the neutron beam at Crocker Nuclear Laboratory. This reaction is important for the DUNE liquid argon TPC detector because 40-Cl decays with a half life of 1.35 minutes (making it virtually impossible to veto by time cuts) and a Q-value of 7.5 MeV (right in the middle of the visible energy expected for supernova neutronization neutrinos).
